The New York Times reports on the rising sales of Christ-themed apparel at Christian rock festivals here. Among the popular vestments are trucker hats (an odious trend in and of itself) bearing the slogan "I love Christian Boys!" Do I need to point out that these hats have a potentional for ironic wearing that is simply staggering? Also popular are t-shirts announcing that the wearer is a "Hetero-boy." What Would Jesus Do? Trumpet his robust heterosexuality, I'm sure.

I think it's safe to assume that there were no t-shirts amid the thronging worshippers that read "I was kicked out of the military because I prayed for my enemies, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!" How 'bout shirts proclaiming "Stanley Hauerwas for President"? I'd buy one of those, even if it meant enduring the latest Christian Pearl Jam knockoff at Creation East.
