The last time I posted something on here about the multimedia capabilities of the internet (archived Daily Shows at comedycentral.com), a bunch of people claimed that I spurred them on to some serious time wasting. Well, here I go again:
KEXP is a radio station nestled in Seattle that specializes in eclectic, undergroundish (ie. good) music. Often, artists will drop by the studio and play a brief morning set. Despite the seeming contradictory elements of rock musicians combined with the A.M. hours, the sets are fantastic. How do I know? Well, the station archives all of its shows, and you can pull 'em up online and listen to them. The list of archived artists is amazing: Patterson Hood, The Arcade Fire, Jay Farrar, Jolie Holland, Kelly Joe Phelps, The Mekons, Pedro the Lion, etc. etc. etc. etc. Plus, you can hear a jovial Richard Buckner (who knew?) crack some jokes before he tears into "A Chance Council," which sounds magnificent even without the swollen pedal steel of the album version.
