Dude, finally something up my alley! The thing I loved most about anthropology was learning about how myth and legends are quite common and cross cultural. Most cultures have shapeshifter legends (including Judaism). Silver also wards off vampires and demons. Iron repells the Sidhe (Irish demi-gods now known as fairies). Interesting how metal has special properties against the supernatural.
